Philodendron
Even the most black-thumbed gardeners seem to be able to grow philodendron houseplants, for they are exceptionally tolerant and tough. There are two basic plant types: vining and bushy, either of which can reach 8 feet tall, although there are also some miniature kinds. The heart-shaped leaves of the climbers are green or patterned, while the green or red foliage of bushy types can look like hands with many fingers.
Light - Enjoys medium to high, curtain-filtered light for the vining types, medium to low light for bushy types.
Temperature - Warm with 75-85º F days, 65-70º F nights.
Watering - Keep just moist.
Feeding - Houseplant fertilizer every three months.
Potting Mix - Happy in almost any kind of potting mix, philodendron will even grow when rooted in plain water.
Tips - Philodendron can get sunburned in direct sun; if that happens, move the plant to a sheltered spot. Make new plants anytime from the vine types by taking cuttings, or pot up offset babies from the bushy types.
